Воуватусъярви

Воуватусъярви — озеро на границе Норвегии и России в долине реки Паз. Административно входит в Мурманскую область России и коммуну Сёр-Варангер Норвегии. Площадь 33,87 км², из них 4,88 в России. Расположено на высоте 51,9 м над уровнем моря. Озеро относится к бассейну Баренцева моря, связывается с ним рекой Паз. Питание озера в основном снеговое и дождевое. Рельеф берега в основном равнинный. Лесные массивы на берегах состоят в основном из берёзы и сосны. На озере в северо-западной части выделяется крупный залив Нурдвестбукта. На озере несколько островов, крупнейшие: Чевессуоло, Сколтехолмен, Бьёрнхолмен и Крукхолмен. Озеро по реке Паз вверх соединяется с озером Хеюхенъярви, а по реке вниз с озером Каттоламполо. В южную часть озера вдается полуостров Хьеррингнесет, а в северную полуостров Лангнессет, отделяющий от озера Нурдвестбукту. На озере расположены норвежские населённые пункты Муруд, Эмануэльбеккен и Скугли. Российских населённых пунктов на озере нет. Вдоль восточного берега южной части озера проходит российская автодорога Р10, вдоль западного норвежская автодорога 885.

1998 Pacific typhoon season

The 1998 Pacific typhoon season was at the time the least active Pacific typhoon season on record, until the record was surpassed 12 years later, spawning 16 tropical storms and 8 typhoons. The scope of this article is limited to the Pacific Ocean, north of the equator and west of the international date line. Storms that form east of the date line and north of the equator are called hurricanes; see 1998 Pacific hurricane season. Tropical Storms formed in the entire west Pacific basin were assigned a name by the Joint Typhoon Warning Center. Tropical depressions in this basin have the "W" suffix added to their number. Tropical depressions that enter or form in the Philippine area of responsibility are assigned a name by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration or PAGASA. This can often result in the same storm having two names. The 1998 season was very weak compared to the 1997 season; this was due to the strong El Niño in the previous season. During the 1998 season, a total of 28 tropical depressions developed across the western Pacific basin.
