Черноморское побережье России

Черномо́рское побере́жье Росси́и включает в себя прибрежную полосу в Краснодарском крае от Адлера до Таманского полуострова и, в рамках законодательства России, южное и западное побережья Крымского полуострова от мыса Такиль до Перекопского перешейка общей длиной свыше 1171 км. По этому показателю Россия уступает Турции, но опережает Украину и другие страны Причерноморья. Крымское побережье длиной порядка 750 км, как и контролируемая Россией территория Крыма, является объектом территориальных разногласий с Украиной. Значительная часть черноморского побережья России расположена в субтропической зоне разной степени увлажнения и на бо́льшей части своей протяжённости является курортной зоной. Океанографию черноморского бассейна активно изучает Южное отделение Института океанологии Российской Академии наук.

Reef

A reef is a shoal of rock, sand, coral or similar material, lying beneath the surface of water. Many reefs result from natural, abiotic processes—deposition of sand, wave erosion planing down rock outcrops, etc.—but the best known reefs are the coral reefs of tropical waters developed through biotic processes dominated by corals and coralline algae. Artificial reefs sometimes have a role in enhancing the physical complexity of featureless sand bottoms, in order to attract a diverse assemblage of organisms, especially algae and fish. Earth's largest coral reef system is the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, at a length of over 2,300 kilometres.

Caloplaca

Caloplaca is a lichen genus, composed of a number of distinct species. Members of the genus are commonly called firedot lichen, jewel lichen.gold lichens, "orange lichens", but they are not always orange, as in the case of C. albovariegata. The distribution of this lichen genus is worldwide, extending from Antarctica to the high Arctic. It includes a portion of northern North America and the Russian High Arctic. There are about thirty species of Caloplaca in the flora of the British Isles. An example species in this genus is Caloplaca saxicola, a lichen with worldwide distribution including the Antarctic continent, Europe and northern North America including the northern reaches of the Canadian boreal forests. A new species of Caloplaca, C. obamae, the first species to be named in honor of Barack Obama, was discovered in 2007 on Santa Rosa Island in California and published in March 2009.
